The American Transplant Congress (ATC) is a five-day event in which physicians, surgeons, scientists, and related medical professionals meet to share knowledge and experience related to the latest advances in solid organ and tissue transplantation. The ATC includes a full program of workshops, lectures, seminars, and symposia that encourage attendees to exchange new scientific and clinical information and strive to make breakthroughs in the socioeconomic, ethical, and regulatory issues relevant to organ and tissue transplantation. Some highlights of 2013’s conference include a presentation on the future of transplantation by Dr. Shaf Keshavjee of the Toronto General Research Institute and a presentation on the development of a genetic theory regarding infectious disease by Dr. Jean-Laurent Casanova of St. Giles Laboratory of Human Genetics of Infectious Diseases.
